Looking towards a record-breaking holiday weekend at the box office, "Fast & Furious 6" is on pace to capture the top spot for the four-day period of May 24-27, 2013.
The Vin Diesel-fronted action flick scooped up $38.7 million on Friday and is heading towards a $122.2 million record breaking freshman weekend.
Looking to grab second spot is the newly-released "The Hangover Part III" starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms. The comedy garnered $14.5 million for the first night of the long weekend, and is on track for a $50.2 million finish.
Rounding out the top five in estimated earnings are last week's number one "Star Trek Into Darkness" ($48 million) in third, the Blue Sky/Fox-animated "Epic" ($44 million) in fourth, and the still strong "Iron Man 3" ($24.6 million) in fifth.
