'In Time': The Reviews Are In!

Justin Timberlake's sci-fi thriller has audiences and critics divided.

What do you get when you mix a futuristic, time-as-money/life-or-death premise; a cast of pretty young things, including Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Matt Bomer and Cillian Murphy; plus the sound sci-fi sensibilities of writer/director Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca," "The Truman Show") and appropriately stylized cinematography by Roger Deakins ("True Grit," "The Reader")? "In Time" is what, a complex, visually appealing sci-fi thriller that has audiences and critics somewhat divided. (The critical collective over at Rotten Tomatoes is at 36 percent rotten, while its audience rating sits at 76 percent fresh.)

Take a few moments to check out the film's ticking points, if you will, as we sift through the "In Time" reviews!

The Story
"The premise builds on the notion that time is money. In the movie's dystopian future, where today's cars have tomorrow's grilles, time has replaced money. People are born with genetic clocks that stop at the age of 25; after that they've got one year in which to beg, borrow, steal or even earn more time. If they don't, the digital clocks embedded in their forearms dwindle down to zero and they time out, i.e., die. That's clever, right? But then there are roving gangs called Minute Men (Teddy Boy types out of 'A Clockwork Orange') who steal time; the borderline-silly spectacle of almost everyone looking 25; the polemic element of social injustice (the richest of the rich can live forever because they've got eons socked away); and the action-adventure element, a clumsy amalgam of Robin Hood, 'Bonnie and Clyde,' 'The Avengers,' 'Les Misérables,' 'Dick Tracy' (for the color and graphics) and Mr. Niccol's earlier, and impressive, genetic-engineering opus 'Gattaca.' " — Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

The Sci-Fi Confusion/ High-Concept Factor
"For a movie about the importance of maximizing every second, 'In Time' ultimately grows repetitive and wears out its welcome. It's fast-paced and hugely stylish, though, with its great-looking cast and a mix of gleaming, futuristic visuals and grimy, industrial chic. And it's a welcome return to the kind of slick sci-fi Niccol made his name on in the mid-'90s with 'Gattaca' and 'The Truman Show' (which he wrote). But his high-concept premise raises several nagging questions. Why do all the inhabitants of this dystopian world (which happens to look just like downtown Los Angeles and Century City) stop aging at 25, then find themselves with only a year left unless they can buy themselves more? When did this start — what is the purpose? And if Justin Timberlake is so busy working in a factory just so he can afford to live one day to the next, where does he find time to go to the gym?" — Christy Lemire, The Associated Press

The Performances
"There are moguls who are mean and have more time than God, which they bank in banks. Chief among them is a calculatingly evil Philippe Weis ('Mad Men's' Vincent Kartheiser, well-turned-out here too), with daughter Sylvia (Seyfried) the apple of Daddy's eye — although whether he loves her or time more will be tested. There are regular bad guys, time thieves called Minutemen, led by Alex Pettyfer, who seems to be getting a little too comfortable in bad-guy roles ('Beastly,' 'Tormented'), as Fortis. Meanwhile, inflation is rampant; the class divide is growing ever wider; the world is ripe for an action hero. Cue Timberlake. 'In Time' was supposed to turn Timberlake into a superhero, though given the way he manages a fairly massive pop career with an increasingly impressive acting portfolio ('Social Network' most recently), that may not be necessary. He brings an interesting sensibility to his characters, Will included, that suggest a complex interior that 'In Time' never quite reveals. The same goes for Seyfried ('Mamma Mia!,' 'Red Riding Hood'), who can do a lot more than use those big eyes and sleek lines." — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times

The Final Word, Pro-Con-Pro Style
"There's plenty to enjoy about that genre standard, which, with the help of the cinematographer Roger Deakins (shooting in digital), Mr. Niccol transforms into a neonoir gaudily washed in green and gold. There's a memorable night scene when Will and Sylvia sprint across a succession of roofs pursued by Raymond, the camera racing parallel with the couple, the exuberance of their freedom and flight palpable. Here, as in other scenes where Mr. Niccol let his images do the talking, the movie works, despite its wavering tone and slow-and-go energy. But then the characters open their mouths and start going on about minutes and hours, clocks and watches, and their time running out and not having enough time and where's my time, don't waste my time, that time will get you killed, brother can you spare some time because, well, I'm all out." — Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

"One problem with 'In Time' is that it's more fun to describe than to sit through. Another is that Niccol's direction of his cast is spotty at best. Timberlake has the steely visage and stubbled cheeks for a rogue hero, but Seyfried, always a watchable presence, has trouble connecting with Sylvia's inner rebellious streak or, for that matter, lending urgency to her line readings. The film's crucial failing, though, is that Niccol's imagination is vigorously literary but not thrillingly cinematic. The movie exhausts its capital about halfway through — devolving, as the Timekeeper tracks the lovers on the run, into a series of car chases and foot races, none of them very spiffily executed. If you're like me, you will be captivated by the first hour and, after that, impatiently checking your watch." — Richard Corliss, Time

"Even if 'In Time' descends from its gripping and thought-provoking premise into a mediocre chase thriller before it's over, it's still pretty damn satisfying to watch in the current climate. Of course the contradictions of capitalism are just as present in eras of widespread affluence as in eras of recession or stagnation, but we see them a hell of a lot more clearly at the moment. Niccol is dramatizing the human costs of the concentration of wealth, expressed by Philippe in the film with the formula that some must die so others can live forever. Somewhere Marx quips that capital is immortal even if its possessors are not; this movie's imaginative leap is to conflate the two and build a world where even death, the great leveler in human affairs, can be bought off." — Andrew O'Hehir, Salon.com

Michael Jackson Doctor Brought To Tears By Former Patients' Testimony

Conrad Murray's defense team presented a series of character witnesses who praised his skills as a physician.

The day after one of Michael Jackson's former nurses was brought to tears while testifying at the involuntary manslaughter trial of the singer's former doctor, Conrad Murray, it was the cardiologist who got weepy on Wednesday (October 26) as his defense team produced a series of witnesses attesting to Murray's skills as a physician.

The Witnesses
» Andrew Guest, former patient of Conrad Murray
» Gerry Causey, former patient
» Lunette Sampson, former patient
» Ruby Mosley, former patient

Key Testimony
» After weeks of prosecution witnesses hammering away at what they deemed Murray's unprofessional, sloppy work in the final, crucial hours of MJ's life, the cardiologist's defense team spent Wednesday serving up a string of character witnesses to speak on Murray's behalf, according to the Los Angeles Times. The patients from Murray's Las Vegas and Houston practices talked about the hours he spent speaking to them, calling them at home and on weekends, and the free services he offered to those who were indigent. "That man sitting there is the best doctor I've ever seen," said Andrew Guest, who Murray treated for a heart condition in 2002. "I'm alive because of that man." Their testimony caused Murray to well up with tears at various points.

» Longtime patient and friend Causey said his appointments with Murray often lasted more than four hours, with the doctor often calling Causey's wife afterward to explain his treatment. Sampson also testified to Murray's careful, exhaustive attention and Mosley said Murray set up a clinic in a low-income neighborhood in honor of his father, who was a physician in that area.

» While cross-examining the witnesses, prosecutor David Walgren pointed out that each patient had received care for heart-related ailments and were not treated for sleep disorders or drug dependency. Prosecutors have said Murray's motivation to give Jackson the surgical anesthetic propofol was his promised six-figure monthly salary.

» Each patient also noted that when Murray did sedate them it was in a hospital setting with monitoring equipment and backup personnel. Prosecutors have argued that Murray did not have proper monitoring equipment or a nurse assistant when he gave Jackson a fatal dose of propofol and then left the room on June 25, 2009.

» When jurors left for the day, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor spoke directly to Murray and reminded him that he has a right to choose whether or not he testifies on his own behalf in the trial. Pastor said he would ask Murray for an answer on that question later this week when the defense rests its case. Murray was not listed on Thursday's defense witness roster submitted by attorney Ed Chernoff.

Murray, who was being paid $150,000 a month to care for Jackson, has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and is now facing four years in prison. But new sentencing laws in California aimed at mandatorily reducing state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he could be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced to two years and, because of overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail, he may be allowed to serve the majority of his time under supervised house arrest.

It's hard to escape what everyone else is saying about the stars of "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" — whether it's fans gossiping about Rob and Kristen or teen girls fawning over Taylor's abs — but what do the three biggest stars from "Twilight" have to say about one another?

We've looked through stories from our years of "Twilight" coverage and compiled our 10 favorite quotes that Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner have said about each other in advance of our "MTV First" with the cast of "Breaking Dawn" on Thursday, November 3 at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

Here is what the stars had to say:

» "She's more stubborn than me in a lot of ways. She really stands up for what she thinks is right. It's generally on the same page with what I think is right, but I never have the balls to do it." — Rob on Kristen during "New Moon"

» "She looked amazing. I really didn't do anything much but just stand there." — Rob on Kristen in her "Breaking Dawn" wedding dress

» "I didn't see Taylor until just a little bit before we started shooting ['New Moon']. When he came back, I had the same reaction as everybody else. I was like, 'Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!' " — Rob on Taylor's "New Moon" abs

» "It's fun to watch with [Taylor Lautner], because we actually sit and watch it. Me and Taylor are actual 'Twilight' fans, so we can sit there and be totally into it! Whereas I sit there with Rob ... he likes it, but he has just such a different energy." — Kristen on watching "Twilight" with Taylor

» "You're so cute." — Taylor on Kristen

» "I don't feel like kissing you!" — Rob to Kristen at the MTV Movie Awards

» "It was really fun to see Kristen try and act all tough, and she's a vampire and she's chucking me across the yard into trees. It was funny." — Taylor on Kristen throwing him around in "Breaking Dawn"

» "It's not tough when you're working with someone like this. She's extremely talented, and we get along really, really well." — Taylor on working with Kristen during "Breaking Dawn"

» "He's really buff! He definitely is. It took him a lot of time." — Kristen on Taylor

» "It's just totally false ... Rob and I are good friends." — Kristen on rumored relationship with Rob

Keri Hilson Attacked on Stage (Video)

A fan encounter for Keri Hilson turned a little scary a couple of weeks ago when a fan attacked her on stage. While performing on October 9th in Paris singer Keri Hilson got quite the surprise and it was not a good way. A very over excited fan literally rushed the stage while Hilson was singing. Although there was security around the fan actually grabbed the singer before being subdued by her bodyguards . It was later revealed that the fan had jumped from the second story balcony in order to get himself on stage, that some scary shizz I tell you. Hilson of course being the class act that she is seemed to take it all in stride. She later tweeted this message to the man that just had to be near her. To the guy who ran on stage & stole a kiss, I LOVE YOU TOO. Didn?t appreciate how u were handled. But next time, enjoy from the audience I have to say pretty cool that she handled the whole thing that well, pretty sure I would not have handled it that classy. Sarah Jessica Parker Covers Marie Claire UK December 2011

She's a favorite when it comes to cover girls, and Sarah Jessica Parker finds herself front and center on the December 2011 issue of Marie Claire UK.

The "Sex and the City" actress brightens up the magazine's latest installment while posing for a Tesh shot spread and chatting with the publication about topics ranging from her marriage with Matthew Broderick to not wanting to be famous.

Highlight's from SJP's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to check out Marie Claire UK!

On a New York Post report claiming she complained about being called for jury duty:
"I was outraged by the character assassination! I have served so many times. I was asked to speak at Jury Appreciation Day! I expect I should be more calloused by now, but I'm so sensitive about not living up to anybody's worst idea about an actor."

On not wanting to be famous:
"I never wanted to be a celebrity; I never wanted to be famous. And in my daily life, I work really hard to not trade on it in any way. I am so worried about anybody saying, 'She's cut in line' or 'She took our table' or 'She got out of jury duty'. The comments that are counter to who I am and the way I live are the ones that bother me. It's not like it's hard to be decent and respectful and well-behaved. I do wait in line, and I do take the subway, and I do take the kids to school. But it almost doesn't matter to a certain segment of the populace - they're projecting onto you this status and entitlement I don't have."

On not taking anything for granted:
"We didn't have a lot when I was growing up, and it's the best thing that happened to me because I appreciate everything. I have a strong work ethic and don't take anything for granted."

On claims that husband Matthew Broderick resented her spending seven weeks filming in Morocco shortly after they adopted twins:
"No, no no! Matthew is a working actor, and he knows sometimes things require some hardship. It's the same when he goes away for two or three months at a time. We're accustomed to this, and he wouldn't have wanted it any other way for me."

On her passion for acting:
"I love, love, love being an actor. It's still the hardest and scariest thing I do, outside of parenting. But I love the opportunities, and if I can manage my time, and the children are OK and we're OK, it's hard to say no to things that are challenging and enriching."

'Expendables 2' Stuntman Dies In On-Set Accident

Explosion, which injured a second stuntman, occurred while sequel was filming in Bulgaria.

Tragedy has struck the Bulgarian set of the star-studded action sequel "The Expendables 2."

A stuntman was killed when an accident occurred involving a rubber boat and an explosion. Two stuntmen were involved in the scene, which was filming around 7 p.m. local time on Thursday night. The second man suffered serious injuries, but he is now said to be in stable condition.

No information has been released yet as to the identities of the men involved in the incident. A representative from the production company behind the Sylvester Stallone-produced film, Nu Image/Millennium Films, released a statement, saying, "It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident."

The accident occurred while the second unit filmed at the Ognyanovo dam in Bulgaria. None of the film's stars were present during the incident, as the first unit was filming at a resort more than two hours away.

"Expendables 2" is scheduled to hit theaters next August and stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. It is the sequel to the hit 2010 action film written and directed by Stallone. The sequel reunites most of the cast, while adding Simon West as director and adding Norris and Van Damme to the lineup.

Ghostface Screams His Way Into MTV's Killer Halloween

Where does the 'Scream' baddie rank among other horror icons? We're polling you all week to find out!
By Eric Ditzian

Ghostface from "Scream"
Photo: Dimension Films

Ghostface better get on his cell phone and start scaring the crap out of fans, because three days into MTV's Killer Halloween, the know-it-all "Scream" psycho is trailing his blood-spilling cinematic brethren in our voter-driven, category-by-category analysis of horror-movie murderers.

In terms of weaponry, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers trumped Ghostface's knife. And when it came to style, the "Scream" dude's black gown and oblong, am-I-sad-or-psychotic mask couldn't outdo Freddy's striped sweater, Jason's hockey mask or Michael's white-washed, blank-faced mask of terror. But perhaps today is Ghostface's day to shine, for now we turn to personality, and here this killer might just shine (or die trying).

Which horror-movie baddie has the best personality? Make your pick in our MTV Movies Blog poll!

Ghostface
Occupation: Student(s), stay-at-home-mom, filmmaker

Weapons: Knife, deep knowledge of the horror genre, irony

Archenemy: Sidney Prescott, innocent people living near Sidney Prescott

Profile: From his first ominously flirty phone call with Drew Barrymore in the 1996 original, Ghostface announced himself as a killer of unique talents and iconic potential. Ever since, the question "What's your favorite scary movie?" has taken on an entirely different meaning.

The key thing that separates Ghostface from most other horror-movie killers is that he's never the same person twice. Sometimes he's one malicious woman with a troubled sense of right and wrong; other times, he's two friends with an itch to draw blood and get famous. The only consistencies are that mask-and-gown getup, an encyclopedic knowledge of horror flicks, and a vendetta against Sidney Prescott, the teary-eyed damsel in distress played by Neve Campbell. Poor Sidney just can't catch a break.

Yes, there is always something a little nonsensical about these shifting Ghostfaces. You're telling me Sidney's boyfriend and his best pal murdered her mom and then went on a Woodsboro-wide killing spree, because why exactly? A couple of kids go from pursuing normal teenage goals like getting drunk and getting laid to wanting to be famous so badly they're willing — and able! — to become crazy-eyed killas? It sounds odd to say when we're talking about a genre in which a child molester can enter the dreams of his victims, but Ghostface always falls a bit short when it comes to believability, if only because the "Scream" franchise takes place in a pop-culture-saturated world so close to our own.

What makes Ghostface a wicked cool bad guy, then, is not why he stabs, but how. Hyper-steeped in horror-movie lore, he appropriates clichés and, in the bloody process, reinvents them. But let's not get too academic here. Ghostface has got swag. He's funny as hell, and when you least expect it, when you're still laughing from your gut, he stabs you in it.

Where do you think Ghostface falls in the scope of horror-movie psychopaths? Let us know in the comments!

'Arrested Development' Producer Shoots Down Script Rumors

'I've seen some of [Mitch Hurwitz's] script,' Brian Grazer says of long-awaited adaptation of Fox series.
By By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Brian Grazer is attached to two of Hollywood's most sought-after projects with director Ron Howard: the new TV episodes and film for "Arrested Development" and the adaption of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series. Both have been in the pipelines for years but are now finally close to heading into production. MTV News asked about the films when he sat down with the producer to talk about his upcoming film "Tower Heist."

After about five years of speculation, the team behind the cult hit series "Arrested Development" announced plans to produce a short season of new episodes followed by a feature film. Grazer confirmed the plan, saying, "We're going to do 10 episodes and the movie." He also mentioned that he had seen some of the script by series creator Mitch Hurwitz but denied rumors that the plot would follow Ron Howard as he tries to make a movie based on the series' characters the Bluths.

Grazer also took time to comment on the state of the much-discussed "Dark Tower" adaptation, which was slated for a multiplatform treatment covering film and television but ran into trouble with its large budget.

"When people say no to you enough, you have to lose money, which we've done without harming the scope of the film," Grazer explained.

News recently hit the Web that the production had cut $45 million from the budget, and Grazer confirmed that figure, saying that the plan for both the TV and film versions still stands.

"We'll do the TV [version] with HBO," Grazer said, adding that the film versions have not yet found a studio home. But Grazer assured fans, saying, "We'll do it right."

New Led Zeppelin On The Way? Jason Bonham Hints At 'Jam' Sessions With Jimmy Page -- But Not Robert Plant

Drummer admits he doesn't know what will come of 'new material.'
By Chris Harris

Jason Bonham
Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images

On Friday morning, mere hours before he was due to take the stage with classic rockers Foreigner at Detroit's GM Renaissance Center, drummer Jason Bonham — the son of late Led Zeppelin kitman John Bonham — told Jim Johnson and Lynne Woodison of local rock station 94.7 WCSX that he'd be an ex-member of Foreigner as of September 1. But that's not the only thing he said.

Much to the delight of Led Zeppelin fans everywhere, Bonham revealed that he's been meeting up with Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones in recent months and that they've been "trying to do some new material and writing."

It was the first time since Led Zeppelin announced they would re-form for a single performance (which happened late last year at London's O2 Arena, in honor of the late Ahmet Ertegün, who signed the band to Atlantic Records in 1969) that anyone connected to the band has confirmed publicly that new music could be on the horizon for the iconic rockers. While the bandmembers have stopped short of definitively ruling out such a reunion, singer Robert Plant insisted in the wake of last year's show that he intended to focus on promoting and touring behind his critically lauded album with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss, Raising Sand.

Not that Bonham knows what — if anything — will happen with the new material he's been working on with Page (who collaborated with pop singer Leona Lewis on an uneven version of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" at the Olympic closing ceremonies in Beijing on Sunday night) and Jones. He said he just shows up and takes his seat behind the kit.

"I've been over [to England] a couple of times," Bonham said. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do ... some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing."

He said it's still too early to tell what will become of these "jam" sessions, but admitted that the "possibility of doing something is in the cards. I really felt it was in the cards from the moment we walked offstage at the O2." Bonham also explained that, before there could be a Led Zep LP, "lots of politics [would need to] get ironed out," but added that recording with Zep is "something I've always wanted to do."

Bonham noticeably didn't mention frontman Plant's name during the discussion. A spokesperson for Page's management had no comment on the matter, and a spokesperson for Jones' management could not be reached by press time.

Michael Jackson Surveillance Tape Called Into Question

Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers question why LAPD surveillance expert only submitted a portion of tape into evidence.

Day 16 in the involuntary manslaughter trial against Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray marked the end of the prosecution's case and the first day the defense had an opportunity to call witnesses to the stand.

Testimony kicked off with a cross-examination of propofol expert Steven Shafer, during which Murray's attorney Ed Chernoff challenged Shafer's theory that there is no way Jackson could have killed himself with self-administered doses of Lorazepam and propofol. Chernoff and his team then moved through several witnesses Monday (October 24).

The Witnesses
» Dr. Steven Shafer - propofol expert
» Alex Supall - LAPD surveillance specialist
» Donna Norris - Beverly Hills Police Department communications director
» Dan Myers - LAPD detective
» Orlando Martinez - LAPD detective
» Cherilyn Lee - nurse practitioner

Key Testimony
» Shafer reiterated his testimony from Thursday in that he does not believe it is possible Jackson killed himself and that it is difficult to determine the specific effect propofol had on Jackson because of the amount of the drug that had been previously administered to the singer in the two months before his death.

» Donna Norris took the stand briefly to discuss details of the 911 call Murray placed the day of Jackson's death: the time the call came in, the location from which the call was placed and from what number the call was received.

» Alex Supall, who visited Jackson's home the evening after his death, discussed the details of the security and surveillance systems set up at Jackson's residence. Supall was pressed by the defense for the reasons why he only submitted a few minutes of footage to the investigation (the last time Jackson entered his home) versus the entire day. Supall told the court he copied Jackson's arrival in order to establish a timeline for his return home.

» LAPD detectives Myers and Martinez were brought to the stand to question the testimony of Jackson's bodyguard, Alberto Alvarez. Myers told the court that contrary to what Alvarez claimed Murray told him to do, the bodyguard did not tell the detectives about putting propofol bottles or a saline bag away before the EMTs' arrived. Martinez agreed with Myers that Alvarez never mentioned being instructed to hide the materials, which led Murray's defense team to insinuate that Alvarez might have been influenced by reading a press release from the county coroner a few days after his initial interview with the police.

» Lee took the stand to provide the court with details about her treatment and care of Jackson, including a description of what fluids she administered Jackson through his IV.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter. He faces four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.

Michael Jackson Overdose Re-Enacted In Court Video

Prosecution aimed to prove MJ's death could have been prevented if Dr. Conrad Murray had the proper equipment and staffing.

After five days of recess, the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray resumed in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday (October 19) with the airing of a dramatic video showing an actor going into cardiac arrest and being revived following a propofol overdose.

The Witness
» Dr. Steven Shafer, anesthesiologist

Key Testimony
» After the trial was recessed for two days to allow Shafer to attend a conference -- which he did not make it to in light of his father's death -- the anesthesiologist, who emphasized the fact that his pro bono consultation on the case is motivated by his desire to restore faith in the public that propofol is not fatal when administered and monitored properly, completed his testimony from last week. Shafer, an expert on the surgical anesthetic propofol, narrated a video in which jurors watched an actor pretending to go into cardiac arrest while being administered propofol. The Los Angeles coroner's office determined that Jackson died of "acute propofol intoxication," which caused the singer to go into cardiac arrest.

» In the video, doctors and nurses successfully revive the patient using equipment and staffing that Murray did not have in Jackson's home. The dramatic re-enactment capped a case from the prosecution aimed at proving that Murray acted in a negligent, unprofessional manner in his treatment of Jackson.

» Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff argued vehemently against showing the video, calling it "a terrifying dramatization of a person experiencing cardiac arrest" that he said was intended to inflame the jurors' minds. Prosecutors countered that it was aimed at educating jurors about the safe way to administer propofol. A judge allowed the video but ordered Deputy District Attorney David Walgren to re-edit the video mid-morning to delete several scenes that he said were not relevant to the case.

» Over the course of the afternoon, the prosecution walked Shafer through his analysis of 17 major infractions -- what Shafer termed "egregious violations" -- in Murray's treatment of Jackson. Four of those violations were deemed "fundamentally unconscionable," such as Murray's failure to purchase and implement the proper medical monitoring devices and his failure to chart and document his treatment of Jackson, or keep any records. "It's a setup for disaster," Shafer said, adding that the violations were all contributing factors in Jackson's death.

Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter, is facing four years in prison if convicted. But new sentencing laws in California meant to mandatorily reduce state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he could be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced to two years and, because of overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail, he may be allowed to serve the majority of his time under supervised house arrest.

'Breaking Dawn' 'Blew My Mind,' Christina Perri Says

Soundtrack artist reviews November 18 entry in the 'Twilight' franchise for MTV News.

One of the perks of being asked to contribute to a soundtrack includes seeing the flick long before anyone else. For self-proclaimed Twilighter Christina Perri, getting a first look at "Breaking Dawn- Part 1" before it opens November 18 was a pretty big deal.

"When I screened the movie, it was definitely one of my favorite days ever," she told MTV News on the set of the video for her "Breaking Dawn" track, "A Thousand Years." "I went with all these Hollywood people, and they were there for work, and I was there for work to get inspired to write a song, but I was an über-fan, like, sitting in the front crying. And I had the best time ever."

So did the film live up to all her expectations? "The movie was unbelievable!" she gushed. "It's my favorite now, so I definitely had the best time ever. [It's my] favorite of the whole series. It definitely blew my mind, and I will say, I can't say anything about it, [but] I will say that if you're a 'Twilight' fan, you will be very happy, 'cause it was my favorite one."

Perri notes that previously revealed plot points, like the wedding, honeymoon and birth scene, live up to the hype. "I think the fans are most excited about the wedding, the sex scene and then the baby, but they're the three best parts of the book," she said. "But everyone's going to be really happy. I don't know how I kept this all a secret. I respect the privacy of the gigantic franchise. Why would you want to give it away?"

Perri is one of many artists who appear on the soundtrack, including Theophilus London, the Joy Formidable and Bruno Mars. The album hits stores November 8, just 10 days before the Bill Condon-directed "Breaking Dawn" opens November 18. A video for Mars' track, "It Will Rain," is slated to drop "in a couple weeks," as Mars alerted fans earlier this week. The last part of the "Twilight Saga," "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," opens November 2012.

¿Y a ti? ¿Qué te parece todo esto?
