Treating themselves to a relaxing evening, Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson showed up at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood last night (June 27).
The “National Treasure” hottie and her “Dawson’s Creek” beau checked out a screening of “World War Z” before scurrying back to their car to avoid the shutterbugs.
Earlier in the day, the happy twosome took a Vespa ride around town and Diane’s left-hand ring sparked speculation that they’re engaged.
A tabloid stated, “Amid speculation that Joshua was getting ready to pop the question, Diane was spotted wearing a band Thursday while taking a Vespa ride with her beau in Hollywood.”
However, a pal of Kruger’s told press, “They have no plans to get married.”

Conrad Murray Sentence 'Not Enough,' MJ Fans Say
But other Michael Jackson supporters outside L.A. courthouse tell MTV News 'justice has been served.'

<P><b>LOS ANGELES</b> — During the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, <a href="/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a>'s fans have been as much a fixture at the courthouse as the <a href="/news/articles/1675068/conrad-murray-sentencing.jhtml">Jackson family</a>. When <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">Murray was sentenced to four years</a> in jail Tuesday (November 29), MTV News spoke with those loyal fans outside the court to see if the maximum sentence was an apt punishment. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="MIchael Jackson Fans React To Conrad Murray Sentence" id="vid:715142.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"Four years — not enough, but at least something," said one fan, sporting a red jacket in tribute to MJ. "And where I come from, a little something is always better than nothing." </P><P> </P><P>One pair of friends might have been wearing matching <i>Thriller</i> T-shirts, but their opinions on Murray's sentence certainly didn't match. "If four years is the maximum and he got the maximum — I know she's not happy, but I'm happy," one of the women said, gesturing to her less-than-pleased companion. "I feel like justice was served and that L.A. can now be proud and stand tall." </P><P> </P><P>"It's better than nothing, but it's not even close to justice," said another fan, wearing Jackson's trademark fedora and sequined glove. "Not only was [Murray] negligent; he let the man die. It's unconscionable. He didn't even try. How would a heart doctor not know how to give CPR? It's insane." </P><P> </P><P>The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, was facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon, but due to recent changes to alleviate overcrowding in California prisons, the judge in the case said he was unable to send the doctor to state prison for his crime. On top of that, <a href="/news/articles/1675080/conrad-murray-sentence-four-years-experts.jhtml">legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News</a> that Murray will likely serve less than half of his four-year sentence. </P><P> </P><P>Those legal loopholes concerned a female fan outside the courthouse, but she was also happy that the maximum punishment was doled out. </P><P> </P><P>"The only thing I'm worried about now, with the overcrowding of the jails, he might get one year and house arrest," she told MTV News. "I'm just hoping it'll be four years, that's what I'm praying. I'm just glad that justice has been served today, and I'm glad justice can be served to the family and to the fans, and everybody around today will be happy and celebrate that justice has been served. And I'm sure Michael's looking from heaven right now."</p>

Britney Spears fandom was reenergized as the singer came out of her shell, opening up about this phase in her career as well her personal life in several high-profile interviews. So it's probably not surprising that Spears will cap off the year at #4 on MTV News' <a href="/news/articles/1676177/newsmakers-2011-lady-gaga-amy-winehouse.jhtml">Top Newsmakers of 2011</a> list, just behind Lil Wayne. </P><P> </P><P>"When I was younger, I was busy, busy, and I was always singing and dancing all the time. The competition was heated but in the end, Spears' iconic "I'm a Slave 4 U" took home the prize. Lucy Hale & Graham Rogers are Dating!
Though she claimed to like being single in a recent interview, Lucy Hale confirmed she is dating Graham Rogers in an article for US Weekly to be released on Friday (June 28).
The “Pretty Little Liars” cutie spoke about their relationship at a BONGO event earlier this week, gushing, "He is such a sweetheart. We are having a good time."
In a piece for the August issue of Lucky, the 24-year-old told a reporter that she enjoyed the single life, saying, “I’m single for the first time since I was 16. I love Mark Wahlberg, Robert Downey Jr. is my ultimate crush. And I think Steve Carell is so sexy. I like being single.”
But now, Ms. Hale has seemingly found her match in the "Revolution" hunk. "I'm with a really sweet guy now. . . We're just having a good time," she said.

Stepping out for a swanky affair, Audrina Patridge showed up at the 4th Annual Thirst Project Gala in Beverly Hills last night (June 25).
The former “Hills” stunner opted for a slim-fitting minidress teamed with a chain belt and nude peep-toe pumps as she worked her magic outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
As part of the 4th Annual Thirst Project Gala, Audrina and her famous fellow guests helped to raise money and awareness of the global water crisis.

Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report!</i> </P><P> </P><P><b>LOS ANGELES</b> — "The X Factor" top seven are back on the lot after their first (and only) mini-vacation of the season. And as the Thanksgiving tryptophan wears off, the anxiety of another double elimination is setting in. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'X Factor' Star Astro Teases His Michael Jackson Song Night Performance" id="vid:714741" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>Adding to the stress? "The X Factor" is tackling the songs of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a> on Wednesday night (November 30), on the 29th anniversary of <i>Thriller</i>'s release, no less. </P><P> </P><P>One of the contestants is so stressed over the theme he's emerged as a total perfectionist. During Monday's rehearsals, he had already nixed multiple arrangements the show had provided him. "This is the most unprepared I've felt on a Monday," he said to his mentor as they rushed out of Stage 36. There was a camera crew chasing them to capture the drama — as well as the ensuing late-night emergency meeting with the vocal coaches — so don't be surprised if some of this intense footage ends up in your living room. (This afternoon's dress rehearsal went swimmingly, for the record.) </P><P> </P><P>Meanwhile, one contestant had a full-on battle with his/her mentor over a chair. The mentor said, "Sit and sing." The contestant said, "Again?! How about I do something on my feet for Michael Jackson week?" Another mentor came to the defense of the contestant. In the end, the contestant is sitting after all. Don't worry, contestant. The eerie arrangement of an MJ classic is what folks are going to be buzzing about. No one will care if you sit or stand. In the control room, I spied one of the bigwigs utter the word "brilliant!" after the contestant's dress rehearsal. </P><P> </P><P>Another hot topic: wardrobe! When paying homage to one of the biggest music icons ever, it's tempting for the stylists to include clothing nods to Michael's various looks. But several singers are worried they'll look too much like Jackson impersonators, which has caused many a headache in the wardrobe trailer. But stylist June Ambrose is still able to keep things light in the midst of the drama. While waiting around for a contestant's last-minute fitting, she started an impromptu MJ dance party on the lot. Crotch grabs and "woo" included! </P><P> </P><P>Lastly, Paula Abdul's sunny energy has been noticeably absent on the CBS lot now that all her groups have been eliminated. She went from being the most hands-on mentor to an on-set ghost. "The X Factor" family can't wait to welcome her back for her first live show as strictly a judge. Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover
Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.

<P>Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off <MTVNLINK type="url" id="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK>'s 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." </P><P> </P><P>That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on <a href="/news/articles/1610708/adam-allison-shine-on-idol-rock-night.jhtml">"American Idol" rock night</a> Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on <I>Rolling Stone</i> magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004. </P><P> </P><P></p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtvmusic.com:84215" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="dist=http://www.mtvmusic.com" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always"></embed></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album <I>Led Zeppelin II.</i> Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon. </P><P> </P><P>For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997. </P><P> </P><P>Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

"I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour." </P><P> </P><P>Cornell's denial comes just a day after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/aerosmith/artist.jhtml">Aerosmith</a>Aerosmith guitarist <a href="http://aeronewsdaily.com/blog/2008/10/31/aerosmith-guitarist-says-page-trying-to-motivate-plant-to-return-to-zeppelin/" target="_blank">Brad Whitford confirmed reports</a> that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert." </P><P> </P><P>Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played <a href="/news/articles/1576186/led-zeppelin-give-fans-a-whole-lotta-love-at-reunion-show.jhtml">a single reunion set</a> last year at London's O2 Arena. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/twisted_sister/artist.jhtml">Twisted Sister</a>Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant. </P><P> </P><P><a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/10/13/another-led-zeppelin-rumor-almost-debunked/">According to Snider</a>, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' " </P><P> </P><P>"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in." </P><P> </P><P>In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there." </P><P> </P><P>But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard." </P><P> </P><P>Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/timbaland/artist.jhtml">Timbaland</a>Timbaland-produced solo LP, <a href="/news/articles/1596730/chris-cornell-debuts-timbaland-produced-track-on-tv-show.jhtml"><i>Scream,</i></a> will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider <i>Scream</i> something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way. </P><P> </P><P>"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] <i>Euphoria Morning,</i> my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rage_against_the_machine/artist.jhtml">Rage Against the Machine</a>Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like. </P><P> </P><P>"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."</p>

Britney Spears Offered $10 Million To Join 'X Factor'

<P>Simon Cowell has hinted that he wants to reload the judges panel on "X Factor" with two new women and according to reports, he's close to landing a superstar who might make the second season of his talent contest much more interesting. </P><P> </P><P>While names including Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have been bandied about as possible replacements for <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul,</a>
 the buzz has continued to focus on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>. According to <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/britney-spears-x-factor-judge-jason-trawick-297730" target="_blank"><i>The Hollywood Reporter,</i></a> Spears' fiancé/agent, Jason Trawick, is on the verge of closing a deal as early as next week. </P><P> </P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:698603/cp~id%3D1672066%26vid%3D698603%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A698603%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> </P><P> </P><P>Cowell has played it coy with the Spears rumors over the past several weeks, telling reporters in a conference call that "there's going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we're going to announce." A spokesperson for "Factor" could not be reached for comment at press time. </P><P> </P><P>After some major hype from Cowell, "Factor" underperformed in its first season -- putting up solid numbers, but not the gaudy ones Simon had predicted. As a result, he blew up the judging panel, keeping just music executive L.A. Reid by his side and canning host Steve Jones. </P><P> </P><P>If Spears dos take the gig, which <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/britney-spears-x-factor-10-million-simon-cowell-fox/" target="_blank">Deadline Hollywood</a> reported could come with a $10 million payday, she will join her fellow Mickey Mouse Clubhouse mate Christina Aguilera in the hot seat of a major reality singing show. After a few rough professional and personal years, Aguilera has gone a long way toward reclaiming her A-list status thanks to the success of her performance on "The Voice." </P><P> </P><P>Cowell reportedly reached out personally to Spears to get the conversation rolling and he's been talking her up lately, saying in that same conference call, "are we flattered there would be interest from Britney Spears? Yes." In a later interview, he said he was "fascinated" with Spears and praised her resilience after a rough period during which she endured some very public personal struggles. </P><P> </P><P>Jackson's name was in the hopper until recently, when she revealed that, while flattered by the offer, the TV gig just would not jibe with the <a href="/news/articles/1680297/x-factor-janet-jackson.jhtml">professional commitments</a>
 already on her calendar this year.</p>
