Meryl Streep Named 2011 Kennedy Center Honoree

Being acknowledged for her artistic contribution to the world, Meryl Streep has been named as a recipient of the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors.

Joining the Oscar winner on this year's prestigious list of accolade recipients is Neil Diamond, Sonny Rollins, Yo-Yo Ma and Barbara Cook.

After hearing of the announcement, Meryl released a statement. which read, ?I am deeply honored by this news, and wish my mother and father were alive to hear it!?

President Barack Obama. as well as First Lady Michelle Obama, will host the noted group at a White House reception on December 4th before saluting the five performing greats at the Kennedy Opera Center House. The event will later be televised on CBS on December 27.
