Giving fans a sneak peek at the "Red Dawn" remake that hits theaters on November 21st, FilmDistrict has released a new clip of the film.
The movie - based off the 1984 classic starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen - stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrienne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
In the reimagined flick, an American city awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky. Shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded, and their hometown is the initial target. Without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
In the action-packed clip, brothers Matt and Jed Eckert (Peck and Hemsworth) wake up to the sound of a sky full of planes dropping parachuters everywhere. Watch the full clip below.

Cousin TJ Jackson is appointed temporary guardian of Michael's kids.
By Gil Kaufman

The unpredictable wheel of Jackson family drama continued to spin on Wednesday (July 25) when a judge stripped family matriarch Katherine of her guardianship of the late King of Pop Michael's three children, handing over the duties to their cousin, TJ Jackson.

After nearly a week of increasingly bizarre public feuding, accusations, confrontations and allegations of kidnapping, TMZ reported that Judge Mitch Beckloff temporarily stripped Katherine of her guardianship over Paris, Prince and Prince Michael II ("Blanket").

He appointed TJ, 34, son of Tito Jackson, as the new guardian for the children, who appear to be at the center of a tug-of-war between the Michael's adult siblings. During an emergency guardianship hearing, Beckloff did not suspend Katherine for any wrongdoing, but said that she was being blocked from carrying out her guardianship by unnamed third parties, which the site speculated were siblings Randy, Janet, Jermaine and Rebbie.

Beckloff reportedly advised TJ and his lawyer to seek a permanent guardianship agreement following stories that Katherine, 82, was being held against her will by the same unidentified "third parties." During the hearing, TJ's lawyer described to the judge a strange phone call his client got from Katherine on Tuesday. "I've never heard my grandmother talk like that," TJ said, adding that she didn't sound "sharp" and that her "pauses, choice of vocabulary ... she has not used certain phrases like that before." He suspected she was talking in code.

Katherine Jackson called home on Tuesday after being out of touch for nine days, according to her lawyer. She had asked TJ to watch the children for her when she left her home on July 15.

In an unexpected twist, TMZ reported that one of Katherine's own lawyers, Sandra Ribera, said she had visited the family compound recently and also believes that her client is being held against her will. Katherine's other lawyer, Perry Sanders, said in court that he vigorously opposes a permanent move to strip Katherine of her guardianship and that when she returns to Los Angeles he will file a motion to reinstate her as guardian. CNN reported that after the hearing Sanders said he'd been informed by Randy Jackson that his mother was on a plane headed back to California.

Sanders also said the Tuesday night check-in call from Katherine was made after she met with Jermaine and Janet Jackson at a spa near Tucson, Arizona. He was barred, however, from meeting with her or talking to her at that time.

The judge also ordered that the children not be removed from California without a court order and that backup guardian Diana Ross and Debbie Rowe, biological mother of the two oldest children, also be informed of the order to keep the kids in the state. The move to wrestle guardianship away from the family matriarch was days in coming and allegedly supported by the children, as well as MJ's estate. A spokesperson for the estate had no comment on the actions at press time.

The temporary guardianship will be reviewed at a hearing scheduled for next month, where it's possible that Wednesday's action could be reversed.

While Michael's will gave Katherine custody of his children and a 20 percent stake in his massive estate, her husband, Joe Jackson, and the eight surviving Jackson siblings were completely cut out. Some of the siblings have reportedly been exploring a move to have the will invalidated by arguing that Michael was in New York on the day that the document was notarized in Los Angeles.

In a video that surfaced earlier this week, Janet Jackson is seen trying to take a cell phone away from Paris, 14, and berating her niece for using her phone to tweet about family business. That video leaked after Janet, Jermaine and Randy Jackson reportedly attempted to persuade Paris and Prince, 15, to leave Katherine's home on Monday. Both resisted and a short time later, sheriff's deputies arrived to break up a scuffle between Randy, Jermaine Jackson and TJ.

MTV News reported that police were called to the scene but did not make any arrests.

Looking like she may have partied a bit too hard, Christina Aguilera was spotted leaving Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills on Friday (September 28) with noticeable help from boyfriend Matt Rutler and a security guard.
The "Dirty" singer celebrated the release of the new music video for " Your Body" in a black-and-white patterned dress. She even sported hot pink platform heels to match her pink and purple hair tips.
In addition to her hot new music video, fans can see the 31-year-old star in October when a new PSA for the United Nations World Hunger Relief hits the airwaves.
As the global spokesperson for the charity, Christina stars in the spot that depicts a mother's emotional battle, struggling to provide food for her starving child. "The Voice Within," plays in the background, while the pop star urges viewers to give hungry kids a voice.
Speaking about the campaign, she recently stated, "The concept of my new PSA for Yum! Brands' World Hunger Relief effort really moves me, not just because I'm a mother, but because it speaks to anyone who has ever struggled to feed their children. It is a devastating issue but one that we can help solve and that's why I'm so passionate about using my voice by raising awareness."

'I grew up listening to Britney Spears,' Amber Riley reveals to MTV News about the season-four homage.
By Jocelyn Vena

The first time "Glee" paid tribute to the one and only
, fans tuned in to not only hear the Gleeks put their spin on some of Brit's biggest tunes, but also to catch a glimpse of the star on the show.

Now, with another Britney-centric episode planned, one of the show's stars, Amber Riley, admits that she'd be down to do whatever show creator Ryan Murphy asks her to do for it.

"I don't really keep my ear to the ground for those things. If it's something they want me to know, they'll let me know," she told MTV News on Wednesday (August 1) when she stopped by the offices to chat about the show's fourth season, kicking off September 13. "They did all the songs that I really liked in the first one."

Sure, some of her favorite tunes may have already been performed, but that doesn't mean there isn't one or two she'd like to put the Mercedes stamp on. "There's so much Britney music. I grew up listening to Britney Spears. She definitely has been a part of my high school years coming up. I would love 'Circus.' 'Circus' is a good one."

Spears isn't likely to appear in this new tribute episode, but that doesn't mean she isn't destined to run into the "Glee" kids, especially given they are all on Fox shows. When asked if Riley has any plans to chill with the "X Factor" judge at any network holiday parties, she laughed, "No! Probably not."

With Riley was uncertain of her own role in the Spears episode, some of her co-stars have been more forthcoming about what they will be doing or hope to be doing in the episode. We're doing a really cool version of it. It's going to be a little group number. It's going to be fun."

Which Britney Spears songs will be featured in the tribute episode? Stopping to pose with her faithful fans, Rihanna arrived at JFK airport in NYC on Friday night (September 28) to catch a flight out of town.
The "We Found Love" singer traveled in a black t-shirt, black jacket, ripped jeans, and pointy black heels as she munched on a candy bar before boarding the plane.
While in mid-air, it seems some flight attendant fans took the opportunity to confront their captive idol. According to RiRi's Twitter, "Flight attendants just made me do a full on photoshoot in my seat! I better get some free nuts."
Recently, the 24-year-old star's new single "Diamonds" has been catching ears all over. According to a HollywoodLife tabloid report, even Chris Brown has been jamming to it.

Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1244299">the Killers</MTVNLINK> and <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="702">Jane's Addiction</MTVNLINK>. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.

To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="986">Foo Fighters</MTVNLINK> frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="503135">Queens of the Stone Age</MTVNLINK> mastermind Josh Homme and <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK> legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.

According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.

Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).

The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.

It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.

Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.

When Jackson signed on to shill Pepsi in 1984 he was paid a then-record $5 million. A representative for the estate said the PepsiCo campaign is the first branding deal executed since Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50.

While Jackson was handsomely paid in the 1984 deal, it was during the filming of an ad for that sponsorship that his life was forever altered. While shooting a commercial for Pepsi, a pyro effect went wrong and Jackson's hair caught fire, seriously burning his face and scalp and requiring multiple skin grafts and resulting in intense pain. It has been speculated that Jackson's addiction to pain medications may have begun after the mishap.

The new campaign is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jackson's Bad album. She was the talk of the red carpet thanks to her extravagant manicure, and Kelly Osbourne loved every minute of her experience at the 2012 Emmy Awards over the weekend.
The “Fashion Police” babe received criticism for flaunting the pricey nails (Azature Jewelers came up with the potion, consisting of 267-carats of black diamonds), however she didn’t seem to mind.
Kelly tweeted, “I see that my nail polish has offended some of you, however I see your point, but it was a once in a lifetime experience. #MyApologies.”
“Please forgive me for not regretting it. It made me feel like a queen! I was just lucky enough to be the one that got picked to wear it,” she added, noting that she didn’t actually pay for it.

Cost: $30.

Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.
By James Montgomery with MTV News staff

"I'm bewildered," <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="14245">Robert Plant</MTVNLINK> said onstage as he accepted the <MTVNLINK type="news" id="1604580">Grammy Album of the Year award</MTVNLINK> with <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="506074">Alison Krauss</MTVNLINK> on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."

He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.

You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.

Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.

And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.

And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.

To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.

One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.

"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards."

She’s been busy with “Dancing with the Stars” as of late, but Kirstie Alley made time to visit Jay Leno over at “The Tonight Show” last night (September 26).
The “Cheers” actress looked lovely in a black dress as she discussed her summer, most notably her upcoming book.
Alley began, “I was gone from LA for 8 months. I was writing my book and it took a long time because I don’t type very well so I write freehand and there were a couple thousand pages.”
“I have a computer but if I do that I get really introverted and I start checking myself all the time. I write too fancy and stuff. So I write freehand but then I have to have someone come in and type it. And I can’t read my own writing.”
Kirstie added, “It’s called ‘The Art of Men.’ It’s about how men have influenced my life- good, bad, kinky, whatever.”
